Newton Custom Homes & Realty has the distinct honor of being the builder for the Charlotte area St. Jude Dream Home. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was founded by Danny Thomas in 1962 in Memphis, Tennessee and is the worlds leading research hospital for children’s diseases including cancer, sickle cell and others. Since opening, childhood cancer survival rates have increased from 20% in 1962 to 80% today, and St. Jude has a goal of getting that number to 90% in the next decade. St. Jude changes lives of children every day, both with the treatment they provide at no cost to their patients and with the research they freely share with other hospitals all over the world. The St. Jude Dream Home is an incredible opportunity to make a difference in children’s lives. NCHR partners with our vendors and sub-contractors, donating our time, materials and labor, to build a home at a fraction of the normal cost. (our goal each year is to build it for NO COST) While we are building, the St. Jude marketing team, partnering with WBTV channel 3 and 96.9 Kat Country radio will sell 22,500 raffle tickets at $100 each – raising $2.25 MILLION dollars. All of the proceeds will go to St. Jude for research and treatment of kids battling life threatening diseases. Tickets go on sale in July. This is our 7th year and we are so blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of this amazing campaign. Once again God is doing amazing things throughout this campaign and we are blessed to have the chance to glorify Him through this work, “for such a time as this”.
We just Broke Ground on the 2021 St. Jude Dream Home. We are so excited to get started! This year’s home is roughly 2700 sq. ft. with 4 bedrooms and 3 baths, an office and a bonus room. It will be loaded with custom features including custom cabinets, Shaw flooring and tile, state of the art Trane Tranquility HVAC system, Top of the line Brizo plumbing fixtures, Bosch appliances and much more!.
In addition to all of the home features, the 2021 Dream Home is even more special as we are dedicating it to St. Jude warrior Jennings Palmer. Jennings is from Charlotte and is currently fighting AML for the second time at St. Jude. With the construction of this home, we want to provide HOPE to the Palmer family and others who are fighting this horrific disease.
There are ways YOU can help. While we do get the majority of labor and materials donated for the construction of the Dream Home, there are still some construction costs we incur. In an effort to offset these costs, we have a few fund raising opportunities for the public each year. Currently and running through March 1st, we are selling 2×4’s for $10 each. You can purchase your 2×4(s) by clicking this link www.stjude.org/newtoncustomhomes. You can also leave a message that you would like to have written on your 2×4(s) and the art classes at Metrolina Christian Academy will be decorating them for us. These 2×4’s will then be used in the construction of the Dream Home and will literally fill the walls of the home with HOPE.
